Dr. Wooten is an experienced Trauma Surgeon and General Surgeon who specializes in open surgery as well as advanced laparoscopic surgery. His focus is on thyroid and parathyroid surgery, complex hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, colorectal surgery, breast cancer surgery and biopsy, appendectomy surgery, and trauma, and emergency critical care surgery.

Dr. Wooten received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN in 1994. He played four years of collegiate baseball, where he was named a First Team Academic All-American in 1994. He later earned a Master of Science degree in biomedical sciences from Barry University in Miami, FL in 1997.

Dr. Wooten earned his medical degree at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia in 2003. He completed his residency at Doctor’s Hospital & Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio where he continued as Chief Resident of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.

Dr. Wooten is Board Certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, Texas Medical Association, and Jefferson County Medical Society. Dr. Wooten is also certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

Dr. Wooten currently is a member of the CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital Trauma Committee and was Chief of Surgery CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital from 2013 to 2015, as well as a member of the Medical Executive Committee CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Dr. Wooten moved to Beaumont, Texas in 2009 and became a partner in Surgical Critical Care Associates.
