Dr. Dar Kavouspour has been performing surgery for almost 30 years and has developed the technologically advanced skills necessary to deliver the excellent care deserving of the community. He graduated in 1986 from the University of California at Los Angeles with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry. Dr. Kavouspour attended medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and received his Doctorate of Medicine in 1990.
Dr. Kavouspour performed his residency training at the University of Southern Florida, Tampa. Upon completion of his residency in 1995, Dr. Kavouspour assumed the role of Assistant Professor in the department of Trauma and General Surgery for two years where he was responsible for training residents in Trauma Surgery and General Surgery. He performed over 1500 surgical cases in that time period in his role as Assistant Professor.
Dr. Kavouspour is Board Certified in General Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Kavouspour has advanced training certification in laparoscopic surgery from The MITIE Center and advanced training in the latest robotic technology with the da Vinci Xi robotic system. He specializes in hernia repair, gallbladder disease, and abdominal surgery. He has performed well over 8,000 surgeries since moving to Beaumont.
Dr. Kavouspour moved to Beaumont, TX in 1997 to start the Trauma Center at CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital with his current General Surgery partner, Dr. David Parkus. In 1999, Dr. Kavouspour and Dr. Parkus formed Surgical Critical Care Associates as a General Surgery practice. Dr. Eric Wooten, who is a Trauma Surgeon as well, joined the General Surgery partnership in 2009.
